I should say that this ranks as one of the best workshops that I have ever attended. Worth $150, & BMC paid for it. The workshop is aptly called 'Insights Communication & Personal Effectiveness Workshop'
It is a 4 hr session & believe me none of the participants ever knew how the 240 loooong minutes passed. It is a pretty structured workshop that is based on the principles put forth by the eminent Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.
The Insights Discovery Framework is about:
• Understand Self
• Understand Others
• Adapt and Connect
• Develop Usable Interpersonal Strategies
• Take Action
When talking about the Key to Personal Effectiveness, the framework uses the four Insights color energies to categorize us: Cool Blue, Earth Green, Sunshine Yellow & Fiery Red
This is how each of the colored personalities think.
A brief on Energy Overview:
Each of the colored personalities has a set of Gifts and Liabilities too. These are the opposite colors:
Cool Blue and Sunshine Yellow
Fiery Red and Earth Green
The framework also talks about how to approach communicating with each of the personality types. Dwelling on Interpersonal Communication, it says, what matters is more on how we communicate rather than what we communicate.
Communication is 7% about WHAT you say and 93% about HOW you say it!
To take it further, the framework argues that we all have all four color energies in us & the boundaries are blurred.
Jung talks about three pairs of preferences:
• Introversion and Extroversion: the way we react to outer and inner experiences
• Thinking and Feeling: how we make decisions
• Sensation and Intuition: how we take-in and process information
This is how the colored personalities fit into the pairs of preferences:
With keen observation one can get clues from Verbal Style, Interactions, Working Environment & Management Style about a persons personality type & pairs of preferences. Example of the management style below:
To put it in the perspective of the team dynamics & approach to task, this is how the personality types fall into:
